Today was cell .
Iris shared about Loving our brethren and the part where it had to do with "since God has loved you , you must love your brethren" .
But , it was met with strong "objections" .
It was interesting really ...
The analogy raised was that when you meet with someone whom you really "beh tahan" , and that person's personality is just so opposite to yours and you just KNOW that it's impossible to love that certain person...
So what about that commandment again ?
The interesting point here was that no one objected against helping someone when they're in need , even if they're like you're enemy or something . But seriously , do you LOVE that person ? Or the better question would be.. Can you ?
Well I agree with what Ivan said , that even shouldn't just shut things up and say "I cannot , therefore I would not" . That we should try , and who knows what sort of miracles God can work out in your life ?
But once I thought about it... How can love be a "choice" ? How do you even define love ?
The people who donate to charities and etc... Do they love the orphans ? Most of them don't even know them (orphans) .
But then again...
If Jesus , the Son of the most high God , came down to earth , in human flesh , to heal the people who were considered the "outcasts" , to sit down and eat with people of the lowest social rankings at that time , and then condemned by the pharisees , whipped by the roman soldiers , and was put to a violent death on the cross even though he was innocent . . . And when he was deeply wounded and bleeding with a heavy cross on his back , and when the people were spitting and throwing countless insults at him...I mean he's the son of God right ? If he beh song them he could call down an army from heaven and just wiped them off from the face of the earth . But yet , scripture tells us that he did it for the sake of us , mankind , and still we rebelled against him...
But he still finished his work on the cross...
Was he insane ?!!! He had all the power to avoid this horrible suffering but he didn't . why ? The traditional answer (Which I completely believe in) was because , he loved us .
So if we were told to love just as he has loved us...
Wouldn't that be impossible ?
But does that mean that we shouldn't even try ?
I mean if that's the case , we're breaking the second most important commandment that God has given unto us "Love your neighbor as yourself" I mean why would God ask us to do the impossible ?
But if you take a look into the 10 commandments and what Jesus also said about it (Like , if you hate someone in your heart , you are guilty of murder)
It's also impossible !
But does that mean that we should shut it all up and say "It's impossible not to sin , therefore I should not even try not to sin ."
Hmm....
